RSCPP is a word study strategy. READ-Look at each letter of the word. SPELL-Say the name of each letter of the word. COVER-cover the word so you cannot see it. PRINT-Print the word neatly. PROOFREAD-Check each letter of the word.

Rainbow Letters is another way to study spelling words. Carefully write each spelling word (proof to make sure you spelled the word correctly). Trace each letter with a colored crayon or colored pencil. Do this with 3 colors.

Spelling Grid: write each spelling word in the grid. Proof to make sure you spelled each word correctly. Be sure that tall letters use 2 spaces and tail letters go down into the space below. Some letters will only use one space. Then trace the lines around the word to make the shape of the word. This helps with correct letter formation.

Spelling Sentences: this is a powerful and important way for your child to build understanding of their spelling words in a meaningful context. This is especially important for homophones (words that sound a like but have different meanings) like there, their, and they’re.

ABC Order: write your spelling words in alphabetical order according to the first letter in the word. If more than one word starts with the same letter, look at the 2nd letter in the word.

Pyramid spelling: write each word, write the word above the 1st word and leave off the last letter. Continue until you only have 1 letter. This will result in a pyramid shape.
